A new study, published in the June 2009 issue of Archives of Internal Medicine, considers total
knee arthroplasty a cost-effective surgical procedure which is gaining increasing popularity as
Americans age and become heavier.

It considered the cost-effectiveness of total knee replacement surgery to determine its benefit, in
terms of quality of life and added life expectancy, gained with medical procedures and invasive
treatments.

The study found that the average price of a total knee replacement was about US$21,000,
however, patients who received the surgery generally enjoyed a better quality of life and could
expect to live longer than those knee osteoarthritis sufferers over age 65 who treated their
osteoarthritis with other prescribed medical treatments.

It is worth noting that the value of alternative medicines and natural far infrared therapy
garments may be help delay the need for invasive surgery by assisting to relieve the symptoms of
osteoarthritis and general knee joint pain at a vastly reduced cost, in terms of both  financial
